<p><strong>C</strong>omputational <strong>M</strong>achinery of <strong>C</strong>ognition (CMC) lab is based at the <a href="https://tu-dresden.de/med/mf#">Medical Campus</a> of <a href="https://tu-dresden.de/">TU Dresden</a>.
As the name of the lab suggests, we want to understand the computations that support our cognition,
<em>and also</em> the multi-scale machinery (neurons, …, large-scale networks) that implements these computations.
We closely collaborate with experimental and computational labs to develop new tools, computational models, and experimental paradigms to understand the computational machinery of cognition.</p>

<p data-search="Our new paper on Perceptual multistability a multifaceted window into brain dysfunctions is now out in Trends in Cognitive Sciences Highlights Perceptual multistability is a well established phenomenon that has been studied for at least a quarter of a millennium and has inspired a wealth of findings in neuroscience and psychology It holds potential for advancing our understanding of psychiatric disorders and neurodiversity as differences in perceptual inference and dynamics are observed across a broad range of clinical non clinical populations Furthermore it can synergize with recent advancements in computational psychiatry in particular transdiagnostic approaches Novel computational frameworks can integrate classical Bayesian and recent reinforcement learning approaches and provide a framework to explain these differences and bridge cognitive and neural mechanisms Given the translational potential of multistability it can also be a promising experimental tool to link malfunctioning computations to underlying neurobiology in animal models of psychiatric disorders You can check out the details here ">
