<a href="#" class="viewmore" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#myModal" data-title="UTTER Co-Organizes the First UncertaiNLP Workshop" data-text='<p><b>UTTER</b> has co-organized the first <b>UncertaiNLP workshop</b>, held alongside the <b>18th EACL Conference in Malta</b>. Focused on <b>uncertainty-aware NLP</b>, the workshop provided a platform for research embracing linguistic variability and uncertainty in modeling.</p><p>We invited paper submissions on a wide variety of topics, including representing, documenting or modeling uncertainty, parameter estimation, probabilistic inference, decision making and evaluation. There was a total of 28 submissions, of which we accepted 8 long and 7 short papers. <a href="#" class="viewmore" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#myModal" data-title="About UTTER" data-text='<p>In the last almost three years, the pandemic forced us into our homes, where we endured a stream of lockdowns. We had to reimagine work, education, social interaction, entertainment, and most other aspects of our lives. A big part of this was possible through online meeting platforms and other forms of computer-mediated communication, which now support our work meetings, classrooms, conferences, and concert rooms to name a few. </p><p>Even as pandemic-related restrictions are lifted to varying degrees all over the world, it's clear that online interactions will remain a prominent aspect of our society. Other than allowing us to move forward throughout lockdowns, they present us with a number of opportunities: improved accessibility, connecting instantly with people around the world, allowing people with limited budget or mobility to be included in events that are now either online or hybrid, reduced air travel which in turn leads to reduced carbon emission and energy consumption, communication across language barriers, amongst many others. </p><p>All of that context is part of what motivates UTTER. Besides the societal and business impact of the rise of computer-mediated communication, we saw and contributed to a technological breakthrough in the last few years. DP models have seen an unprecedented leap in performance. They exhibit various levels of linguistic capabilities, store factual information, are potentially adaptable to the most diverse tasks, and show few-shot capabilities (that is, the ability to learn from a few demonstrations). Bringing together computer-mediated communication and this technological leap, we envision enhanced human-human interaction, pathways to augment human performance and towards more embodied user experiences.</p>' onClick="gtag('event','news',{ event_category:'click_news_card', event_label:'About UTTER'})"> View more </a>

<a href="#" class="viewmore" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#myModal" data-title="Results - UTTER 2nd FSTP Call " data-text='<p><b>Results of UTTER FSTP Open call 2 for recipients of financial support</b></p><p>Project Horizon European Unified Transcription and Translation for Extended Reality, funded from the European Union’s Horizon Europe Research and Innovation program under Grant Agreement No 101070631, and from the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) under the UK government’s Horizon Europe funding guarantee under Grant No 10039436, launched a FSTP Open Call 2 for recipients of financial support. </p><p>The Call closed on 31 July 2024. </p><p>A total of 50 proposals were received for this Call. Seven proposals will receive funding for a total amount of 409.643,75 EUR. </p><p>The evaluation and selection have been completed. <p><p>In UTTER we will develop technologies that will provide the next level of support for online and hybrid meetings, that will offer an eXtended Reality (XR) experience. We will provide the type of meeting support that would normally only have been possible with a personal assistant, such as automatically taking minutes and summaries, and providing transcripts. Our XR models will also be applied to online customer support. </p>

Deployment:</u></b><u> Development of new methods and algorithms for adapted, contextualised, and robust dialogue assistant XR models</u></p><p><b>- </b>Leverage multimodal models to deliver tools which provide a new paradigm in quality, robustness, and contextualisation capabilities for dialogue assistant components such as transcription, translation, and summarisation.</p><p> </p><p><b><u>3. Integration:</u></b><u> Development of tools for online meetings and customer support agents</u></p><p><b>- </b>Design and implementation of interfaces to visualise, edit and publish transcripts, minutes, combined with meeting platforms like Zoom to deliver multilingual transcription and translation support.</p><p> </p><p><b><u>4.
