THE WATER-SAVING GARDEN How To Grow A Gorgeous Garden With A lot Less Water By: Pam Penick I love the cover to this beautiful book it has flowers, greenery and it just makes you want to sit down in a garden and smell the flowers and be with God. This cover tells a story of relaxation in the outdoors with a made fragrance to smell and enjoy a day in the outdoors with nature. In the book it said that Ten Eyck opted not to do a lot of earth moving so Ten Eyck built a check dams (whatever that is, I have no clue but I figure I keep reading I’ll learn what it is). This book is loaded with all kinds of information from flowers to fixing a nice check dam and other things to keep moisture in you ground. I love all the colorful pictures of flowers and greenery throughout this book it made it great to read and also sees the beautiful landscapes. There are five parts to this book: Part 1 Water-saving gardens and design. Part2 Holding into water through soil, rain barrels, rain garden, and water- permeable paving. Plus other ways to save. Part 3 it’s all about different plants Part 4 Creative ways to add illusion of watery abundance in a garden. Part 5 Get you started with a list of 101 plants with drought tolerance for gardens across country. This beautiful book tells where the gardens are located in the country. At Heaven’s Edge True Stories of Faith and Rescue By Andrea Jo Rogers Andrea was a Veteran EMT whom helped thousands of people. She tells stories and uses medical terms I myself don’t know. I never had interested in shots and nursing etc. because I had getting shots so I never paid attention to the terms maybe dumb on my part. To me it takes those special people that can put their feelings aside as they work on strangers or sometimes probably people they are close to or know in some way. She seem to always pray while helping someone which would make me feel more comfortable knowing there was a Christian working on me if she said the prayers out loud, or maybe she didn’t feel comfortable praying out loud but she should feel comfortable if she is a Christian. In a few stories she said something I felt she only might have only thought the person might have said because the way the story went she wasn’t actually with that person at that time, but either worked on them later or found them too late to know what really went through their thoughts when she wrote the story. Like the story of Too Late for 911, the way she told the story was interesting but I don’t feel she was there with him at the time she wrote what he might have said in his last minutes of life. The other story was Buried Alive which she was actually there for that one. It was sure scary but also showed the young adults that took on responsibility the love and caring of other people that just pitched in to help. It was one of my favorite stories she told. I recommend it highly if you want a good quick read. I received this book free from Harvest House for an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review just an honest one. NKJV Apply The Word Study Bible Live In His Steps By: Thomas Nelson The King James seems to be the favorite Bible for a lot of people. It’s really not my favorite Bible. I did however enjoy this Bible though because it had Key events of each book of the Bible. Application notes help provide guidance to apply scripture to your life. There are notes of events and people to make the Bible of that time come alive for the readers, a nice addition. I love the fact that Jesus words are in red ink so many Bibles don’t put His very important words in red ink. I feel all bibles should have God’s words and Jesus words in red ink so they stand out. At the beginning of each book of the Bible I love how it tells some important parts about the scriptures you are about to enter into and read, great idea for you to read that first and get an idea of the scriptures in that book you are going to be reading. As we are reading Acts in my Life Group, I found in this Bible that Acts with everyday people apply their faith to everyday life Acts is one of the Bibles most timelessly relevant books. Nice colorful maps. They are really nice to study for example: Jerusalem In The Time of Jesus. The orange color stands out and you automatically look at what it says. I recommend this Bible highly for studying. I use it in my Love Unveil classes and my Life Group classes I may even take it and see how it works in my prayer classes!! COLD SHOT By: Dani Pettrey I love to gaze at the cover and see what story the cover holds before I start the story the author has among the pages. So as I gaze at the cover of the face of the handsome man it tells me he is a rugged outdoor type. Serious about whatever he is watching. As I look into his eyes it is as if he is staring back at me and looking deep into my soul to see what lies beyond the outer appearance. As I enter the pages of this book it pulls me right into the story with nonstop action, danger some quilt and friendships that are deeper then the ocean and higher than the Mountain, friendships that they will protect even with their very lives. The twist and turns of this story will keep you on the edge of your seat. About the time you think you have it figured out Dani will throw in another twist that has you rethinking and trying to figure out who did it. I can visualize what Dani is writing about because she describes the scenes so well. Dani will have you laughing, crying and have you scared at what may happen at the turn of the next page. I recommend this book highly. I have read a lot of Dani books and she writes each book that keeps you turning the pages, this book is no different it is a great read. Psalms has always been my favorite I guess it’s because I love Psalms 23 A Psalm of David. This book goes in order of cleansing your body and she wants you to stay in the order she has it set up. The foods she has suggested and no cheating and no eating sweets for it to work. You’ll have to set aside a month that you are not busy or have a lot of Birthday’s etc. unless you can resist the sweets of delicious cakes and set them aside and not eat them. Prepare to be Amazed 3 Social Influence Toxins 4 Financial Toxins 5 Health-Related Toxins 6 Relationship Toxins 7 Purpose And Identity Toxins 8 Day 31, Recipes This is really a totally new and different way to Detox and get closer to your Lord in Prayer. I picked March to do my detox which is the month my sister and son was born. This book is full of great information and helpful foods for your life that she feels you won’t go back to the way you were eating and living before because you’ll feel so much healthier. As I read this book I went to scriptures in the bible and then it made sense for example Feb 2015 ISIS beheaded and kidnapped 21 Christians they also video it for the world to see, remember in Revelations 20:4 it tells of these things that are now happening. I just don’t understand how people cannot see that there is a real God and he is very much alive today. Just read the Bible and see that these scriptures are unfolding today right before our very eyes. The book of Revelations is relevant to the past, present, and the future. Did you know that Revelations is known as “The Apocalypse of ST. John”? As in the book of Daniel tells us the Antichrist “will exalt and magnify himself above every god and will say unheard –of-things against the God of gods. Be prepared my friends it is not looking good. Is ISIS a foretaste of the Antichrist’s future reign of terror, The Antichrist will be given power to wage war against Christians to conquer them (Revelations 13:7).I pray the ones that don’t know Christ or believe in him will soon and get on bended knees and pray. Did you know the Catholic Church is involved in efforts to impose a global government 2011 the Vatican Cardinals issued a document calling for a “World Authority”? This book is very informative one I feel everyone should get and read I feel everyone can understand what it is saying and it really will open your eyes to a lot that is going on now in the world. The bee-friendly Garden By: Kate Frey and Gretchen LeBuhn I love this cover the cute little bee flying around the flowers and greenery is breath taking. I can hear the bee buzzing around the flowers. The flowers and greenery makes me want Spring to come now; well Florida doesn’t get Spring it is either cool or very hot here. The pictures of the flowers, garden, the design of the flower garden to draw bees is very interesting. The chapter on Beyond Your Own Back Yard –becoming a Bee Activist is really great. There are little bee drawings on some of the pages which is really cute addition but not on as many little bees on pages as I’d like to see them on because it is really cute to see the bee drawings. As you read the benefits of bees in your garden and the benefits for your flowers it makes you look and think of bees differently than just a bee that might sting you. This book is a great resource of information on bees, a little about butterflies and other beneficial insects. What kind designs of flower and veggie gardens to make your yard attractive? There’s ways to a healthy and fertile soil. It has organic pesticide-free. I received this book free from blogging for books for an honest review. There are 143 pages to write your prayers, your thoughts then at anytime you can return to this journal and reflect on what you wrote and what prayer you might have written and see if your thoughts are the same or have you grown closer to God and now your thought and prayers maybe on a different level because of your relationship with God has changed. Each reading is a Bible verse, a full explanation on how you can relate to God. The water colored pictures of plants and other is beautiful and is at the start of each section. They are called Contents: Request, Gratitude, Lament, Intercession, Faith Repentance and Awe. Just the contents made me love this journal Ok the pictures too. Radical Spirit 12 Ways To Live A Free And Authentic Life By: Joan Chittister I really had a hard time getting into this book so I truly have to tell you I didn’t read it all the way through. Sorry I thought this would be a book I could just read and ponder on but I had a hard time getting into it. It took me a long time to read very far so my review may not be the best again I am sorry for not getting further into the book. I know there are 3 segments that helped Joan she tells the segments in the introduction part of her book. Maybe you will find them helpful. As you go on the journey with Joan as she helps you find your quest for new freedom and wisdom. You’ll read of the spiritual seekers that the soul has many masters. Apostle Paul says “People are slaves to whatever masters them.” For example anger, addiction, and fear then try to break the chains to whatever it is. We know it is ongoing every day of every minute. I believed if I could have had more time I might have been able to get into it or maybe I just am not as fast at understanding as you are. Vibrant India Fresh Vegetarian Recipe By: Chitra Agrawal The food on the cover looks good enough to eat and the vegetables are bright and colorful. The back of the cover is just as pretty. I’m the type of person that has a hard time trying food from other countries unless I know the person cooking it. I don’t like spicy foods so no matter what country it is from I won’t eat it. This all vegetables recipes so I may be ok with this kind of foods to try at a restaurant. The shredded carrots and lentil salad looks great. There are a lot of pictures in this book that is colorful and looks good. Vegetarians would love this book. In the front of the book it has a list of recipes also tells where to buy ingredients and equipment. I am not sure if the ingredients come in bulk or if you can buy just a little to see if you like them. I love the history of her family, her city. Well if you read the Bible you see God uses the most unlikely people to help Him with His plan to glorify His name. A lot of times I don’t read the introductions to the book because I want to dig right in to the book. Really take time to read the introduction I did for whatever reason and I was so glad I did, it’s very interesting!! We all cry out we want meaning and hope in this fallen world of ours. We as Christians know we can call out to God for anything and He is there for us. Mr. Dillon tells how we can find what our soul cries out for do you want to be a doer or a talker? Some of us get scared if we go out of our comfort zone. So read this book and see how Dillon will show you “if you give you surely will gain”. The story on page 13 brought me to tears and I thanked God for helping raise my two children. In my heart I know He helped watch over my two beautiful children which are adults now. If you ask yourself how did the world get this way and why wasn’t something done, then this book is for you. See the problems and solutions through brand new eyes as Justin takes on a whole new journey in a selfish plan to change our world. I recommend this book highly.
